Crystal Palace Football Club is a professional football club based in Selhurst, South London, England, who currently competes in the Premier League, the highest level of English football. Their official founding date is 1905, but the club has claimed that this was a continuation of the amateur Crystal Palace football team formed as far back as 1861, which would make them the oldest professional football club in the world.[1] Both the amateur and professional clubs were founded at the Crystal Palace Exhibition building and played inside its grounds during their early years. The amateur club shared the cricket pitch with the Crystal Palace Cricket Club from 1861 to 1876, and the professional club played at the FA Cup Final stadium between 1905 and 1915 but was then forced to leave due to the outbreak of the First World War. In 1924, the club moved to their current home at Selhurst Park.
